Teton Village's Off-Season Runs on Separate Clocks, Even After Opening Day

The Aerial Tram stopped summer service on October 4, and Jackson Hole Mountain Resort's Opening Day is Friday, November 27, 2026. That gives the Village roughly seven and a half weeks between seasons, but most of its familiar places don't follow that calendar. Each one sets its own closing and reopening dates. The gaps overlap, and at least one well-known dining room stays dark for almost two weeks after the first chair.

If you live at the base of the mountain, the off-season is easier to read as a list of separate dates.

The last calls, in order

The first closures have already happened. Here is the sequence as the businesses and the resort have posted it for fall 2026:

  1. October 4. Aerial Tram summer service ends. Tram Dock and Corbet's Cabin close for the summer season the same day.
  2. October 5 to 11. The Bridger Gondola runs a final daytime sightseeing window from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. JHMR's own pages disagree about whether the Sweetwater Gondola runs that week. Check the resort's live status before you plan a ride on it.
  3. October 11. The General Store finishes its summer run.
  4. October 19, 11:30 a.m. Spur Restaurant & Bar at Teton Mountain Lodge closes for the season after breakfast service.
  5. October 23. Last day at the Mangy Moose before its break.
  6. October 24 through November 27. The Moose is closed for the off-season.
  7. November 27. Opening Day at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort.
  8. December 9, 5:30 p.m. Spur reopens for dinner.

The resort has already listed Piste Mountain Bistro, Off-Piste Market, Tin Can Cantina and The Deck as closed for summer, along with Café 6311 and the Bear Flats Snack Shack, and hasn't posted reopening days for them. The Teewinot Lift, the Bike Park and the Evening Gondola are also marked closed, with no specific dates attached.

The Moose had its sendoff early. Shovels & Rope played the Saloon on Saturday, October 3, which the Moose billed as "one final concert to close out the season." The kitchen and bar then stayed open nearly three more weeks. Its late-September post promised football on the screens, margaritas, wings and nachos until the October 23 cutoff.

Spur's gap runs past Opening Day

Laid end to end, the two best-known independent closures don't line up. The Moose's break runs 35 days and ends on November 27, the same day the lifts open. Spur goes dark five days before the Moose does and stays closed for 51 days. Its dinner service returns on December 9, which is 12 days after the resort's first ski day.

So the first stretch of the 2026–27 ski season comes before one of the Village's main restaurants is back. Teton Mountain Lodge calls Spur "consistently rated the top restaurant in Teton Village." Its regular schedule includes weekday breakfast from 7 a.m., weekend brunch until 3:30 p.m., happy hour from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. and dinner until 9 p.m. None of that runs from October 19 to December 9. Anyone planning an early-season Saturday or hosting friends during the first two weeks of skiing will need another table.

Spur and the Moose are the two independents whose 2026 dates have actually been published. Some of their neighbors post daily hours on their websites without saying whether those hours hold through late fall. Caldera House lists nightly hours for Corsa, Tuesday-through-Saturday hours for Shin Shin and morning hours for Southcable Café. Teton Thai Village posts a Monday-through-Saturday schedule. Neither has put a fall closure or reopening date on its site, so a phone call is the only reliable check through November.

The places that keep the lights on

Two Village hotels have posted plans that cover the whole gap.

Hotel Terra is marketing the off-season to people who live in the region. Its Mountain Neighbor Rate covers stays from September 27 to December 17, 2026, and is limited to residents of Wyoming, Montana, Idaho, Utah and Colorado. Guests show a valid state ID at check-in. Rates start at $259 for a standard room, before tax and the daily resort services fee. Full prepayment is required, and blackout dates apply. The package pitches the heated outdoor pool, the rooftop hot tub and "seasonal dining specials at Osteria." Il Villaggio Osteria's posted hours run from 7 a.m. brunch and lunch through happy hour at 3 p.m. and dinner until 10 p.m. Those are general hours rather than a dated fall schedule, but a resident package that runs to mid-December suggests the hotel expects to be open through the quiet weeks.

Four Seasons Resort and Residences Jackson Hole has put dates on the end of the gap. Its October 1, 2026 holiday release schedules resort activities for Wednesday, November 25, and Thanksgiving dining for Thursday, November 26. That is the day before the lifts open, while the Moose is still on its break. The resort's heated pool complex, with its three whirlpools, is described as open year-round. For anyone who hasn't been in a while, the steakhouse at the Four Seasons is now Steadfire Chophouse, led by Executive Chef Michael Goralski. It replaced Westbank Grill in July 2025.

The Moose comes back with a new daytime use

The Mangy Moose's posted closure runs through November 27, Opening Day itself, and when it reopens, part of the building will be used differently. This winter is the Moose's 60th, and it's launching the Mangy Moose Ski Club with Black Tie Ski Rentals of Jackson Hole.

The club takes over the restaurant on the north side of the building, which the Moose describes as underused during the day. Members get dedicated lockers, ski and boot valet service, and fireside lounge seating from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The building is changing a little too. Lockers are going in upstairs on a little-used side of the steakhouse, and a new club entrance is being added on the north wall. On powder days, the club can make "arrangements with advance notice" for members who want the first tram.

The Moose's FAQ answers the obvious question directly:

"Uh oh. The Mangy Moose is going private. No, not true. The Mangy Moose remains open to the public."

The saloon and the downstairs café stay public all day, and the restaurant opens to everyone at 5 p.m., with reservations "strongly recommended." A full-season membership costs $9,800 and covers lockers for up to a family of five. It includes a $500 food and beverage credit and a pair of limited-edition 60th anniversary skis. A transferable property membership costs $8,800 and is held in the name of a property, so owners and their guests can share it. It doesn't include the skis or the credit. Parking isn't included in either. Membership is capped at 100.

Scott Eastman, who owns Black Tie Ski Rentals of Jackson Hole, told the Jackson Hole News&Guide the price is "a long way off" from other, more expensive ski clubs in the Village. He said the club is meant as a home base for skiers who spend 50 or 60 days on the mountain. Stephanie Yang, the Moose's head of marketing, described the club as "a way to reinvest and fund the next 60 years of the Moose that everybody loves."

Winter returns in stages

Opening Day starts the ski season, but other parts of the Village come back later. Casper Restaurant, the on-mountain lodge reached by the Sweetwater Gondola, is listed as opening in December 2026. It serves from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., with a build-your-own burger bar, burritos and a "warm up station" for hot drinks. Spur's dinner service returns on December 9. The Moose's daytime dining room reopens as a members' lounge and turns back into a public steakhouse at 5 p.m. each evening.

The Bridger Gondola will also carry one cabin it didn't have last season. After Teton County skier Breezy Johnson won the women's downhill at the Winter Olympics in Italy, Jackson Hole Mountain Resort dedicated a gold-wrapped cabin to her. It is No. 1, shows her name and racing photos, and will run up and down Bridger among the red cabins for at least the entire 2026–27 season.

If you're deciding where to spend the quiet weeks, or wondering how a transferable club membership fits with owning in the Village, our team keeps track of these calendars year-round.
