The Jackson Hole Fall Arts Festival runs September 9–20, 2026, marking the 42nd year of this celebration, and if you've never experienced it, it's one of the best arguments I know for why people end up putting down roots here.

For 12 days, galleries and venues across town come alive with the nation's top Western, wildlife, and landscape artists. It's part of the reason Jackson Hole was recently named the number one arts-vibrancy community in the country, a distinction that still surprises people who think of us as just a ski town or a gateway to the parks.

The Jackson Hole QuickDraw – the festival's signature event, where artists create a piece of work in a fixed window of time, live, in front of a crowd, followed by a auction on Town Square. There's something magnetic about watching a finished piece of art emerge in real time.
Palates & Palettes Gallery Walk – a festive evening gallery crawl that pairs the valley's art scene with food and drink.
Arts on the Green – a more relaxed, outdoor showcase of artists and their work.

One of last year's featured artists, Colt Idol, described the QuickDraw as a kind of purified version of an artist's process — the time pressure forces the work down to its essence.
